A Better Day ABA, PLC
Our approach focuses on assent and cooperation, rather than rigidly emphasizing compliance for the sake of compliance. We take our cues from our clients and teach each child the way they learn best.
We are deeply passionate about helping our clients be as independent as possible. Our staff is encouraged to think outside the box, bringing energy and enthusiasm to every session. We understand that creating a fun, engaging atmosphere is essential to making therapy effective and enjoyable for the children we serve.
We believe in the power of learning for our clients and ourselves. As a team, we continuously expand our knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis to ensure we are using the most effective, evidence-based practices.
As a small, family-owned company, we understand the profound value of family and community. Our commitment is to not only make a lasting impact on the lives of the children we serve, but also to support their families by providing the tools and resources they need for lasting success. We believe in helping our clients gain the skills needed to actively participate in their communities and make meaningful connections. Through personalized care and collaboration, we aim to create a positive impact that extends beyond therapy and into the community.
Kim Heath founded A Better Day ABA, PLC as a solo in-home service provider in the wake of the pandemic, a time that brought both positive innovation and significant challenges to the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Driven by a desire to deliver ABA services on her own terms, Kim set out to create an environment where ethical, individualized, and joyful care was the standard.
As her practice grew, so did her vision. Realizing that her most energetic floor-crawling days were behind her, Kim shifted her focus toward mentoring the next generation of ABA professionals. That’s when her daughter, Caitlin, stepped in.
Caitlin, inspired by her mother’s passion, pursued her own path in ABA and was trained by some of the top BCBAs in Richmond, VA. With experience in both home and clinic settings as a supervising BCBA, Caitlin brought fresh insight and a collaborative spirit to A Better Day ABA. Together, Kim and Caitlin envisioned more than a clinic; they dreamed of a community. They set out to build a place where children could learn through play rather than being confined to sterile rooms and rigid routines; a place where future behavior analysts could grow through hands-on experience, strong mentorship, and an unwavering commitment to ethical practice. Above all, they wanted to create a place where the staff are enthusiastic and dedicated to the clients, and each family is confident that they are receiving the best ABA service for their child.
Today, A Better Day ABA is proud to offer exactly that. With over half of their behavior technicians currently in graduate school to become BCBAs, Kim and Caitlin are actively shaping the future of the field and making sure that A Better Day ABA is a fun place for everyone. Every day has the potential to be a great day!
